The main difference between a CRT monitor and an LCD monitor is that an LCD monitor takes up much less desk space than a CRT monitor. Although a CRT monitor is lighter and requires much less energy to operate, but usually costs more. These are not the only features to compare though.
CRT monitors offer high end flat screen monitors that use a flat screen to help prevent glare. LCD monitors still have yet to adapt this technology.
CRT monitors support more video cards than LCD monitors because they offer a variety of refresh rates. LCD monitors are not capable of changing their refresh rate.
LCD monitors use much better backlighting than their CRT counterparts which provides a much brighter and clearer display.
LCD monitors offer TFT (active matrix) which is better than CRT’s technology DSTN (passive matrix).
Both of these two types of monitors have their advantages and disadvantages. The best monitor can only be determined by what application it is for.
