BANGKOK, May 14 (TNA) - One Thai national, who was reported missing in China’s Sichuan earthquake was found unharmed, according to the Thai consulate general in Chengdu.

Identified as Kanit Ruenromthavornsom, a Thai tourist from Yala who was travelling between Jiuzhaigou National Park and Chengdu on May 12, lost contact with his family when the earthquake struck, according to Thai Foreign Ministry spokesman Tharit Charungvat.

However, rescue workers were able to help several hundred tourists in the earthquake-hit areas. 

Mr. Tharit said there were three groups of Thai tourists in Sichuan. Two groups are staying on while the other returned to Bangkok on May 14, the first day Chengdu airport resumed operation for international flights.

Meanwhile, Thai Airways International resumed its flights to Chengdu on Wednesday. The Chengdu-Bangkok flights carried Thai and Chinese tourists who were stranded when the airport suspended services.
